My name is Jean C Wong and I am a world traveler, writer, photographer, teacher, chef, and yogini. I am originally from Hong Kong but have lived all over the world. I am excited to be able to share my impressions and experiences with you through this blog and I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy making it!

My background in a nutshell:

Born in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada as a child. Moved back to Hong Kong for a year and left home at the age of 9 to return to Canada, where I felt more at home. Started boarding school in England because I felt like a new challenge. After a few years of frustration with the British school system, I decided to finish up High School in New York. Upon graduation, I moved to New Orleans and studied literature and history. I also spent a year in Paris studying art and French. Since then I have lived and worked in Zambia, New York, Japan, China, and Hong Kong. I am fluent in French, Mandarin, Cantonese, English, and Spanish.

As you can tell, I get a thrill out of learning as well as experiencing everything a new environment has to offer. I’ve had a variety of jobs, from writing for expat magazines, teaching sailing and marine science, cooking gardening and housekeeping at an ashram, teaching arts and crafts in the occupational therapy ward,  lifeguarding, teaching creative writing, teaching yoga, working in audit for a major financial institution, interning at a law firm, bartending, teaching ESL, to teaching at a school for orphans.

You name it, I’ve probably done it or hope to do it at some point! I guess you could call me an experience junkie! One of my passions in life is backpacking and much of my work is inspired by my travels.

I took a really long break from blogging while I went to cooking school, got married and had 2 kids but now I am back and I will be blogging now about things I learned and am continuing to learn about being a mom! Please visit my blog askmamadear to see the latest Mama Musings!
